Banned By NASCAR, Santa Fe Super Chief, 2009 GoodGuys Chicagoland Nationals

I am the Santa Fe Super Chief parade train. I am a lot of fun to see and hear.

Today I was Banned by NASCAR, Banned for life!

My sad true story: Friday: I am at the 2009 Good Guys Chicagoland Nationals. Drag racing tonight. Weather is perfect!

Saturday at 5PM: We each get to make 3 laps around the beautiful Chicagoland Speedway. Just don't pass the pace truck. My engineer got me in "Poll Position" for lineup and asked the official if I should be kept low on the track. The official said "yes, stay low". Then two Good Guys officials boarded and we started moving. I started behind the red pace trucks. Most of the cars passed me, but I was happy.

When we got done I dropped off the photographers and went back into lineup for a second round.

That is when NASCAR told Good Guys that I was Banned from NASCAR for life.

Half the Good Guys staff is pitching in my behalf! Wind Tunnel's Dave Despain says "this is unjust!"

Tomorrow I'll have to go to the famed "red NASCAR trailer" to hear the ruling. Possibly loose a point or two and be fined. Other NASCAR Sprint Cup VIPs will be there: Juan Pablo, Dale Jr. and Tony.

(Conversation in the red NASCAR penalty trailer:) What are you in trouble for Today? Juan Pablo Montoya: "Running someone into the wall." Dale Earnhart, Jr.: "Illegal spoiler." Tony Stewart: "Passing below the white line, what about you?" Me: "Blowing my horn."
